El Niño and the monocropping Lethal and deadly situation. El Niño is drought or no rain. No rain is no water. No water is no plant can grow. Monocropping is the planting of one kind of crop for the market demand. What do the farmers plant in our country? Most farmer is planting for market demand crop only. To make income. Major crop is rice and yellow corn. Due to El Niño, no plant can survive. It's a crop failure. Farmers loss income and got hungry. Rice farming is in demand with the growing population. Yellow corn farming is in demand with the animal feeds production for poultry and livestock use. Ready market for farmers. As dictated by market demand. Most farmers forgot to diversified. When climate change, "El Niño" happen. Many farmers is unprepared. Also, the gov't people is not really preparing. Why prepared? When the calamity fund will be released anyway. Heartless gov't leader dictum. " bad news is good news for them " Today, we see and feel the El Niño effect in everyone. As the months pass by, climate change "La Niña" will happen. More rain and more flooding will occurred. Many lives and property will be damage. Hope our new gov't will implement the right programs and projects for the citizen to benefits.
