Due to corruption and dynasty way of electing leader. Most of the people is poor. Only few elite family enjoy life. Every 6 years, they held a contest. To choose and elect new leader for the country. Every 3 years, they held a contest. To choose and elect new leader in each island. In winning the contest. You can buy or cheat to win. Feeding program or Gardening program?

What is the best way to help the marginalized communities? In my journey to advocacy work. Many company CSR, NGO, LGU and church-based projects and programs is into instant approach. They tend to do hand out and feeding programs and projects. Sometimes lasted for a day to a month. Is this worthwhile? For the immediate needs it help. Is this sustainable? Depend on the funds and sponsors. Many years ago, I ask a gov't social worker.. Why they never help person with mental problems and street children? The few months ago, I encounter again a gov't social worker and a church-based social service worker. Not for general public info as they say. The answer is still the same. For gov't side, non-voter and "ipot'. They rather help those able person with 4 P's. Because of political patronage to vote. What is "ipot"? Not the adultery issue. It's about feeding or helping people with no political value. They consider mentally disable person and streetchildren. Not an important person due to non-political value. For church-based social service. Costly undertaking, if you have limited funds. That's why, we see a lots of this kind of people in our street. No political value, no one will help. Reality hurts and a bothering conscience. To see this people suffering too much. Due to gov't ineptitude and corruption. Despite the taxes they got. They have a social obligation to help the less fortunate. The private sector cannot do much. Why gardening program or projects? At first, it really hard to start something. Need hard work to make it happen. But, it can give the marginalized community a dignity as person. They can see and feel the work they done and the respect they got from gardening. The real work for food program or project. What you do is what you got. The sustainability is lifetime. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." -- Chinese proverb -- Hope this enlightened us. Be awake and be aware. For a better society. God bless us all. Who cut the trees? (1)

Who cut the trees? Many decade ago, Our country is thick with forest. What happen to the trees? Due to corruption, most of the tree is log by lumber companies, government officials and politicians. To help funds political ambition and to make tons of money. From the past, many of the so-called butchers of the forest, already passed-away. Some of them still living and enjoying the bounty of the past. Most of the mountain and upland communities is tree-less. The grasses have already overtaken most of the hills and mountains. What can we do? Many people is already hopeless. Planting trees is already late in our generation. But, We believe their will be no latecomer. As long, we will start planting trees now. For the next generation to benefits. More than 25 years ago, I attended an environmental forum led by local politician in our town. Back then, the local politician is an environmental advocate. I'm not sure if genuine or fake advocacy. He encourage us youth to plants trees. He challenge us to produce tree seedlings. He will buy it all. Few days after the environmental forum. As an enterprising youth, me and my friends. Started to gathered tree seeds and set-up a makeshift tree seedling nursery. After few month, we go to the local politician office to sell the tree seedlings we produce. But, the local politician flip-flop and tell us to sell the tree seedlings to the public market. It's a disheartening situation. After few weeks of waiting. My cousin have a tree planting project in the school. She help me sell the tree seedlings to her classmates. This save the days we work for the tree seedling nursery. How can we replant the mountains and hills in our country? Everyone guess is the same as mine. It's the gov't job to reforest the country. But, It will not happen. Why? Our gov't people have no concrete plan to implement it. They just after the funds they can get. One-way to reforest the country is through people initiative. Gov't must entrust the reforestation to upland communities. By employing them as tree planter and custodian. This will ensure the success of the reforestation. If, upland community will have a job. No one will attempt to cut the trees. By creating sustainable communities, the better future will be regain for all. Example of reforestation expenses, the gov't can spend. By paying Php1 peso per tree a month to tree custodian. In a year expenses is Php12 pesos per tree. In a decade expenses is Php120 pesos per tree. In 2 decade expenses is Php240 pesos per tree. If 1 tree custodian will take care of 10,000 tree. He/she earn Php10,000 per month. If, we have 1 billion tree planted. Gov't spend 12 billion peso a year. No more flooding. Balance ecosystem. We save lives and properties worth of billion in man-made calamities. That can be mitigated. We generate more jobs and save lives. Be awake and be aware. For a better society. Do you read or heard about 'Better Globe Philippines" few years ago? A norwegian guy and local lady artist. They campaign throughout the world to show how “Doing Good and Making Money” can help change the globe through socially responsible green donations of adopting a tree for the protection of the environment. El Niño and the monocropping

El Niño and the monocropping Lethal and deadly situation. El Niño is drought or no rain. No rain is no water. No water is no plant can grow. Monocropping is the planting of one kind of crop for the market demand. What do the farmers plant in our country? Most farmer is planting for market demand crop only. To make income. Major crop is rice and yellow corn. Due to El Niño, no plant can survive. It's a crop failure. Farmers loss income and got hungry. Rice farming is in demand with the growing population. Yellow corn farming is in demand with the animal feeds production for poultry and livestock use. Ready market for farmers. As dictated by market demand. Most farmers forgot to diversified. When climate change, "El Niño" happen. Many farmers is unprepared. Also, the gov't people is not really preparing. Why prepared? When the calamity fund will be released anyway. Heartless gov't leader dictum. " bad news is good news for them " Today, we see and feel the El Niño effect in everyone. As the months pass by, climate change "La Niña" will happen. More rain and more flooding will occurred. Many lives and property will be damage. Hope our new gov't will implement the right programs and projects for the citizen to benefits. We always post online ads in olx.ph

For several years now. We always post online ads in olx.ph. But, some of our online ads never been posted online. Reason: Unrealistic seeds price -- too low. This make us wander. Why low pricing is not allowed in an online ads. Do they have a price benchmark? it's a sad situation. We're working to serve more home gardeners and backyard farmers of affordable seeds price. But, the norms is not allowing it. We find it bias to some extend. This deprive many gardener and farmer of affordable price seeds. From an oppressive gov't to corporate greed. We stand-up to the challenge. Despite the hardship and costly battle. From the promise utopia of GMO seeds to help farmers increase yield and income. But, never withstand the recent El Niño. Heirloom and indigenous seeds withstand the test of time. We maybe a speck in the marketplace. We have contribute to the planting of million of trees across the country. To help combat climate change. We have contribute to the increase planting of vegetables, herbs, forage, covercrop and it uses acrosss the country. We help break the landlord monocropping system in many communities. That enslave many generation of farm workers and tenant. Our task is not yet finished. We're moving one step at a time in the upliftment of farmer's plight. Thank you for your continuous support to the advocacy. For a better society. God bless us all. Gift of seeds

Gift of seeds: The gift that keeps on giving. By our hands, we labor to till and plant the seeds. By our nurture and patience, the seeds grow into plants. Come harvest time, the seeds give us hundred-fold of return. That we can use and share to others. Since the start of seeds advocacy in 2010. We set aside portion of the sale to the gift of seeds to marginalized farmers. This help uplift farmers livelihood over the years. Some kind-hearted people also help sponsor seeds to help the farmers. We would like to thank you for your generosity. God bless us all. Posted on Dupay Seeds fb page 04/30/2016

How many tree do you planted in your lifetime?

I always encounter a boastful personality. Who is called "white collar environmentalist ". Lots of photo-ops and press release. But never planted an actual tree and care to maturity. If ever, they planted few tree seedling. They want a helper to dig first a hole in the gound. Before they do the ceremonial tree planting activity. They do it with lots of entourage and pageantry. Spending few hours in the field. But, they gains lots of perks. The real tree planter is humble and patience. They do it as a personal vocation. For the benefit of the next generation. Be awake and be aware. For a better society. Posted on Dupay Seeds fb page 05/05/2016

Why we still sell seeds to home gardeners and backyard farmers?

Many agri company sell seeds and farm inputs at a specific market only. Not catering to the lower-end. It's a sad situation. That deprive the marginalized sector. Planting ang producing owned food is anti-establishment. This ran counter to the corporate greed dictum. That foods must be produce from corporate farms and plantations. Many flowery word is been peddle to the general public. To make believe the goodness of corporate greed. In reality, only few company benefit from this system. Corporate greed sector want population to be just consumer. Buy and buy and enslave forever as a consumer. When we made a stand to do our own stuff. This threatened the greed sector. This what happen, when people initiate a self-reliant gardening and farming. This empower the person and the community as a whole. "Tapos ang negosyo". I always believe if the sun rises everyday to everyone benefits. We have no monopoly of the world we live. Everyone have a freedom to be independent and self-reliant. Stop the corporate greed.
